Sewing Stream: Little Dresses

I bought the Oliver + S Family Reunion Dress last spring. I have sewn several different sizes in it now. The pattern instructions are excellent. While this dress looks a little more difficult, it is quite easy.

This pattern runs a little large. I made the 18-24 month size when my daughter started wearing this size in other clothing (Carter's, Gymboree, Old Navy). She is now wearing mostly 2T clothing, and the 18-24 month dress is still too big! The length is fine, but this dress has a wide neck that tends to slip off her shoulders. I have made multiple 12-18 month dresses from this pattern that fit great.

The only modification I made to this pattern was to use snaps from The Snap Source rather than buttons and button holes down the back. I think snaps are easier to attach and faster to use on a wiggly little girl. I chose not to use the growth tiers in the hem. I also found that I can get away with only half a yard of fabric for the main print if I use scraps for the sleeves and back snap facing.
