Christmas and Holiday Movies

What are your favorite movies to watch this time of year?  In searching for Top Ten lists on the web, we were disappointed with what we found.  Stacy and I are not totally sure what our favorite films for the season are, but we are working on our own list.

In no particular order, here are some of our favorites.
  1. White Christmas - Ok, this one is listed first for a reason.
  2. Holiday Inn
  3. The Holiday
  4. The Polar Express - I grew up with the book, and while no screen adaptation will replace the wonder and excitement produced by your imagination, it was still a fun movie.
  5. Miracle on 34th St.
  6. Elf - pretty stupid, but worth the laugh.
  7. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964)
  8. A Child's Christmas in Wales
Here are some I have not seen, but probably should:
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas
  • A Muppet Christmas Carol - We own this, but have not watched it yet.
  • Charlie Brown Christmas
  • It's a Wonderful Life
  • National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation*
  • A Christmas Story*
*Stacy has seen these and detests them...

  1. I also love The Family Stone. Oh, and Queen Latifah in Last Holiday ;)

  2. I have to say White Christmas is my all time fave. Matt's fave is It's a Wonderful Life, though I have yet to make it through the slow in the middle all the way to the end. We also like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and a few others... but those are our faves :)

  3. I have to agree with Brianne - those are excellent additons as well. I am remiss that you have YET to watch a Muppet Christmas Carol. We gave that to you like 3 years ago. lol but nevermind that - it's just sooo good! If nothing else the music is amazing.

  4. Re: The Muppet Christmas Carol. I know! We keep talking about watching it, but have not yet. I think it will happen soon though.
